The Operations Coordinator in the Computer Science and Engineering
Department is responsible for the operational and business
activities of the Department and ensuring compliance with all
internal and external policies and procedures that govern the
department's efforts. The Operations Coordinator oversees the human
resources and day-to-day operations in support of the department's
educational and research mission and goals. The Operations
Coordinator has responsibility for ensuring department grant
expenditures are correct, and do not exceed established
budgets.
Business Operations Coordinator
What you will do:
Fiscal Management
Monitor department financial activities.
Conduct monthly reviews of all department accounts and monitor
spending to ensure that expenditures do not exceed budgets
Adhere to critical monthly, quarterly, and year-end deadlines.
Assist department chair with budget planning and financial
decisions.
Provide recommendation for budget allocations.
Examine department financial reports for accuracy.
Perform fiscal year-end activities.
Verify that all financial transactions for the fiscal year entered
correctly and that all assets, liabilities, revenues and
expenditures correctly stated for the fiscal year.
Contracts and Grants Management
Provide administrative and technical assistance to the faculty
responsible for grants management; provide oversight and support in
relation to policy and compliance.
Serve as liaison among principal investigators, CU Denver
departments, and the Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) as well
as external sponsors in managing grants and contracts
Provide financial and budgetary support for research grants
Purchasing
Manage departmental purchasing, procurement, and accounts payable
activities including purchase requisitions and purchase orders,
travel authorizations and reimbursements, and expense
reimbursements.
Ensure that Procurement Card policies are adhered to by department
cardholders.
Payroll and Human Resources
Oversee the hiring process for research faculty, postdoctoral
trainees, part-time instructors, and student employees in the
department.
Manage the search process for tenure-track faculty recruitments
including the coordinate and logistics of on-campus interviews
Process one-time payments, additional remunerations, and all other
forms of off-cycle payroll.
Investigate and resolve questions or problems associated with
employee payroll.
Adhere to all payroll-related deadlines.
Attend HR and payroll forums and trainings as they are
available.
Maintain faculty personnel files.
Monitor bi-weekly and monthly payroll registers.
Data Collection & Record Keeping
Collect and store ABET assessment material and course
notebooks.
Gather, compile, and enter data, producing routine and specialized
reports and documents
Generate statistical reports on demand
Maintain files, records, logs, and other tracking systems.
Become familiar with the Office of Institutional Research and
Effectiveness (OIRE) as a resource.
Collaborate with faculty to administer, collect, and collate
results of other assessment data.

expected to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
One (1) year experience with financial, human resource or
procurement systems.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Substitution: A combination of education and related
technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the
bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
Master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or
university.
Experience coordinating day-to-day business and administrative
operations of an organization.
Experience working with faculty, staff, and students in a higher
education environment.
Experience working with CU Data, CU Marketplace, PeopleSoft,
Navigate and Concur or similar systems and software.
Professional-level customer service experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding customer service
skills.
Demonstrate an exceptional understanding of diversity, equity and
inclusion with a commitment to developing equitable practices.
Ability to perform duties independently without guidance and
direction from other professionals.
Ability to motivate and recruit potential students.
Ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and exercise

ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects, establish
priorities and attend to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,
etc.) with ability to produce professional correspondence,
documents, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.

This position follows an on-campus work structure. Opportunities

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been
established at $56,700 - $61,669.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set
based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to,
internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the
University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of
possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
